This role is associated with the proposed Universal destination in Bedford, UK. Successful candidates will spend time at the Universal Creative Headquarters in Orlando, and at the site in Bedford.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides technical management, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions. Responsible for the successful specification, bid/award, design, production, installation, and acceptance testing of Ride and/or Show systems, to include Network Systems. Role may have multiple direct reports who manage multiple aspects of an attraction.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all Show and Ride equipment maintains the highest level of safety in accordance with Universal Specifications, accepted manufacturing practices and applicable standards.
- Provides technical guidance and vendor management of the design, fabrication and day-to-day detailed installation, test, and adjust activities in the field. Vendor management includes participation in all aspects of both technical and project / contract management as it applies to vendor contracts, directives, and change orders.
- Oversees all technical interaction with other project team members, vendors, sub-contractors, and other relevant 3rd parties involved with Show and Ride systems with a focus on Network systems. Develops an open working relationship with the facility & construction team and vendors to ensure a clear line of communication regarding installation, test, and adjust activities. Builds strong team cohesion and motivation within the attraction technical team.
- Creates scope of work documentation and awards contracts to vendors based on quantitative requirements derived from interpreting creative intent and employing Universal Specifications. Leads enforcement of Show and Ride technical and safety principles to provide a quality product and necessary deliverables.
- Advises, coordinates, and is accountable for the status and engineering quality of Show & Ride systems, including areas of risk or potential future risks.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

| A successful candidate would be able to perform the following to include, but not be limited to: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to organize and manage a complex series of tasks and vendor(s) to develop and implement show and ride systems. Strength in schedule analysis and contract management required. Comfortable Influencing decisions of major nature. High degree of tact & diplomacy to obtain favorable decisions or maintain good will. Comfortable working in a non-routine environment with frequently changing situations. |

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in applicable technical field required (examples include, but are not limited to, information technology, network administration) or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience; Advanced Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5-8 years experience in direct theme park-specific technical/engineering roles supporting network system equipment required (examples include, but are not limited to, Network Systems, Network Security, Building access control, RF/IR/UV Systems) or similar experience in related technical field.
5+ Years: Required Vendor Management experience with significant in-field installation related experience. 3-5 Years: Preferred experience with contract management and practices in the theme park and/or construction industries.7-10 Years: Required related experience with network systems. Theme Park-specific experience is highly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

[Jeff] Ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to take part in designing spaces that creates some of the fondest memories for people. [Griffin] The idea of blending technology, engineering, and storytelling really spoke out to me. And I wanted to be an environment where I could learn for those who really know what they're doing. [Ariel] I looked and the job description was amazing. It was literally everything that I've ever wanted out of an internship. [Ana] Some of the cool things that I've been able to do is see a lot of behind the scenes about how the park is run, and just envisioning the future worlds of tomorrow. It's been a really cool experience just to see what's coming up. [Carey] I've done some really cool attraction walkthroughs. I've got to walk through Hulk and Kong Skull Island and Forbidden Journey, and those were really incredible experiences. [Griffin] I think the cool thing about the Universal Creative internship is, you have a lot of opportunities to work with others and do what you want to do. [Jeff] I never expected any sort of company to be like this. [Emily] I really feel like I can be myself here. Everyone's been so opening and welcome. I don't have to put on a mask. I don't have to be somebody that I'm not. I can just be my genuine, authentic self. [Carey] I would say the culture at Creative is really a community and teamwork based. [Ariel] Everyone's so invested into the interns, and that's something unique. [Ana] You can ask a question and you'll always get an answer. [Tyler] Everyone's always happy and I'm willing to help you out when you're trying to learn something new, or you don't know how to do something. “In 1998 I was working as a Human Resources Manager at a hotel and I decided to resign from my position so I could stay at home with my one year old daughter. After a couple of months, I decided to look for a part time position. I saw an advertisement in the newspaper to work one weekend collecting surveys at a theme park. I thought that would be fun so I applied for the position and was hired by a 3rd party vendor to work Rock the Universe for one weekend. That one weekend grew into a 21 year career in the field research department at Universal Orlando!”
